Today, Fox News Latino, a site that features the latest breaking news, politics, economic and lifestyle stories impacting the Latino community, announced an initial content-sharing partnership with Being Latino, the fastest growing and largest Latino-based fan page on Facebook.
The partnership will involve cross-linking between FNL’s Latino News of the Week feature and BL’s Being Latino on Facebook feature. The Latino News would appear on BL’s site and the Being Latino on Facebook would appear on FNL’s site. The goal of this unique arrangement is to connect the sites’ readers and fans to the respective sites.
“We’re very excited about this partnership with Being Latino. We think it’s a natural match,” said Adrian Carrasquillo, a producer/writer for Fox News Latino who also manages FNL’s social media presence on Facebook and Twitter. “Fox News Latino provides Being Latino with the ‘Latino News of the Week’, five of our top stories, in a bit.ly bundle. They give us ‘Being Latino This Week on Facebook’, a look at the Latino Facebook conversation.”
Being Latino founder Lance Ríos agrees: “I’m extremely excited to have the opportunity to partner up with Fox News Latino. We chose to move forward given we shared many of the same values and applaud FNL’s efforts for recognizing that there are English-speaking Latinos (both Left and Right) who are interested in current events. EVP of Blogger Relations, Libby Julia-Vasquez, will be writing the weekly blurb summing up the most popular blogs from our talented roster of bloggers for the week and will submit to FNL in a section named ‘Being Latino this week on Facebook.’ I can’t be more excited for this opportunity and thank the forward-thinking staff at FNL for being equally as confident in us as we are with them.”
We think this partnership is, as they say in the blogging biz, a “no brainer.” Very exciting news.

Congratulations to Lance for putting together this deal and to Julio R Varela for your reporting on the story.
I think FOX is getting the message: Latino votes and wallets are growing too big to ignore. (I would not be surprised if we see a cooling off on some of the anti-immigrant vitriol from certain FOX commentators.)
I have to say that I was truly skeptical about FNL when it came out, but after seeing how they are engaging people on social media and really connecting with Latinos online, I have been impressed. Their news stories are actually very good and I agree with you, FOX has to know that Latino demographic is growing.
I love it. Thanks for the attention Julio. I know that bringing our content to the Latino community is the only way for us to succeed. Everyday we want to engage and are always thinking about innovative ways to grow. And awesome social media savvy Latinos like you make it easy to keep plugging away because we feel the shifting social media sands. Thanks again!
You guys should be commended for making the effort to reach out and connect with the audience. The only way to beat the criticisms and make progress is to come into the arena and engage your base. Your strategy from a social media perspective is right on target. I really believe that a year from now your Twitter following will be in the tens of thousands. We will see!
This deal with Being Latino is not an isolated event. FOX is echoing what seems to be a clear GOP strategy of reaching out to Latinos. (You have to give the conservative media machine credit for staying on message. They are always in lock step.)
As you’ll at the link see below, Jeb Bush (with Karl Rove calling plays from the sidelines) is spearheading the Hispanic Leadership Network to try and woo Latino voters. In fact, Jeb Bush went so far as to say it was “incredibly stupid” for the GOP to ignore Latino voters. And Bush is right. It IS incredibly stupid to ignore the fastest growing voter segment. One problem for the GOP, though: Bigotry is always stupid.

Raul, thanks for sharing this. I do think it is hard to ignored 57K active Facebook fans as well, and yes, what you point out here is right on target from our perspective as well.
Raul, let’s be very clear…are you saying that FOX is an extension of GOP? or an independent acknowledgment of Latino clout?
I’ll jump in. FOX NEWS has had a history of bad coverage of Latino issues. FOX NEWS LATINO is a much better version, I like the content there. A lot of Latino-centric news.
Lance, this is so exciting! For you and all Latinos! Can’t wait to meet you! Hey, how about some cupcakes?!
Cool, we love Being Latino!
Awesome piece! Thanks for writing! We’re excited to see where this takes us! Pa’lante!
Great work, guys, so filled with orgullo!
Louis, you ask an excellent question. I agree with Julio’s answer. That said, this is a complex issue. Rather than go into the details here, let me suggest you read my take on the entire topic on my blog post

Excellent reporting, Julio. This is social media at its best.
Gracias, hermano , will be sharing your post again with several of my networks this weekend.
now the real works starts: its up to us to show *how* influential we are and why it (should) matter to *non Latinos*.
I agree 100%. We just can’t praise news like this. We need to act and prove it.
Lance Rios is an attention seeker and has always been hesitant to work with other smaller Latino organizations when approached. The purpose should be to help each other grow. He always walk around with this useless pride like he is too good for other orgs. Fox news Latino with their subliminal (Red– be alert logo, Latino in Scary Thriller Font) if I may add, approaches him and he jumps them! como le gusta. SHAME ON YOU! They don’t give tres carajos about your content, they want your FB followers! Another one blindsided and gone. SHAME ON YOU LANCE RIOS.
Hi, I appreciate your comments on my post and we do have an open policy on comments, but we do restrict our readers to use profanity and name-calling others. Let’s have a respectful debate here without calling people names. I did edit your post slightly, but kept the essence of your post here.
As for what you said about Lance Ríos, I will need to respectfully disagree. I know Lance personally and have always admired his vision in social media. If you have issues with Being Latino, you can feel free to unlike since this is a free country. But at the same time, have you actually seen the FNL page? Thanks for your comments and just a reminded to be a bit more respectful in your tone. ¡Gracias!
If you edited that post, why did you not mark the edits so readers would know what is original opinion and what blog policy? Leaving the readers guessing is manipulative and surely not helpful.
You are kidding me, right? Use of profanity and name-calling is not allowed. For the record, I deleted three nasty curse words directed at someone. Everything else that the person said was not edited. Last time I checked I am the author of this blog and I still respect my readers and allow them to comment. But when people call each other names and insults, that is not acceptable.
If you come and read my posts, you will see that I have mentioned several times that this is an open forum but that use of obscenity is not allowed. But I will add it to my front page now. Thanks for the suggestion!
You do not get the point. You are the author of your blog but not the author of every comment. You may very well delete comments, not publish or edit them. But you should mark that for else the other readers cannot be sure what is original content and what edited. I do not allow certain things on my sites, too, but I will always mark the parts of a comment edited, e.g. [like this].
Thanks for your comment. I do get the point. Last time I checked I am the owner of this content and have the right to edit and moderate any comment that appears on my page. The only comments I edit (and it has happened only once out of the thousands of comments this blog has received) are ones that personally insult people. I am no different from other more mainstream blogs. In my ooinion, the comment in question (which mind you, didn’t even include the person’s real name) contained three profane words that had attacked Lance Rios.
You are free to bot visit this blog, there are millions of other blogs that you can read, but I appreciate your visiting this one today. Thanks!
You do have the right to edit, but what hurt making it transparent for your readers (like me)? If I could see sth like [inappropriate language, red], I would know what was the issue. The rest is trust, anyway.
These were the words that were edited

Cool? Thanks again for your comment!
Not cool. Cool:

That would have been it – in the context.
Thanks for the suggestion.
