So, it appears that the cheeky lads from TOP GEAR, whose controversial comments and jokes this week about Mexicans resulted in a public apology by the BBC, have been mocking the Mastretta MXT, the Mexican sports car co-host James May labeled “The Tortilla,” since 2007.
- “Much of Mexico’s national cuisine appears to be the same stuff wrapped in different ways. Take burritos, tortillas and enchiladas: all much the same, but still exciting food. Now, Mexico has applied its culinary ideas to the car and come up with the Mastretta MXT.”
- “Mexico: world leader in the fields of refried bean cuisine, high-level corruption and giant hats. But not sports cars. Not yet, anyhow. However, the Mastretta MXT – the first car ever designed and built in Mexico – ambitiously aims to change all that.”
