You brought up the Inquisition? Really? Why do you keep changing the subject everytime I make a point? And why do you keep ragging on Spain?

Ok. 1st of all, yes. Whopee! We have a black president. One that MANY in the States did and still don't want. Quite a few of them racists. I still remember seeing some of those offesnive signs on TV. Some even calling for the deaths of his two girls. One that you don't even support. So...yeah. But how is the "diverse" USA doing on the woman front? Here's a list of current female leaders around the world: http://www.guide2womenleaders.com/Current-Women-Leaders.htm
Have we had a female president yet? ... Nope! Oh and you kow it's sad if a Muslim country elected a female leader before we did and yet it happened. Benazir Bhutto of Pakistan. Her government was eventually accused of corruption and thrown out but hey! She still got elected. We haven't even that phenomenom yet.

And let's not forget that Spain has quite a few immigrants from Morocco, the UK, Germany, Latin America, and Sub Saharan Africa. In fact, the former president Zapatero gave thousands former illegal immigrants residence permits as long as they could provide proof of work and had no crimina backgrounds. And this was done because one of the main problems facing Spain was its illegal immigration so clearly diversity is NOT hard to find in Spain.

LOL...do I hate people different from me? Or maybe the real question is, do you? I at least stayed in the USA for a while but when I realized it wan't or me, I moved. You on the other hand claim to want to learn but everything I heard months ago from you still hasn't changed so what exactly are you there to learn? What are you trying to learn that you haven't heard already? It seems like you're not learning from PR at all if months ago you claimed our history was "boring" or that we're not speaking English enough even though at least PR has two official languages while the USA doesn't have English as it's own. You didn't even know that PR does in fact pay into Medicare and Social Security but doesn't take the full benefits of either. So tell me. You keep glorifying the USA yet harping on PR's problems yet still choose to live there in the hopes that what? That someone or something will change your mind? I think that if your mind or heart was going to change, it would've done so already. Staying there isn't doing you, the USA, or PR any favors.

And oh...the Inquisition. Just lol. The Inquisition was created in 1480 and finally abolished 1830. So in case you didn't know, there's no Inquisition in Spain anymore. In fact, you could marry someone of the same sex legally there, get safe abortions, and religion is offically separate from the state. Three things not so true in the States to one extent or another depending on which state. And to think that Spain is a much younger democracy than us. (Didin't become democracy until the 1970s) So...you harp on about the Inquistion but look at what Puritan Salem did. Is Salem, Mass. still going around hanging witches? There was plety of religious intolerance in the USA and there stll is. Moreso than by modern European standards.

Also...you forgot to research what Spain was like BEFORE the Inquistion. Back when it was known as Al-Andalus and had a thing called La Coviviencia when Sephardic Jews, Muslim Moors, and Christians all lived in relative peace (There were still several kingdoms fighting but it was much better than the intolerance that followed.) And the funny thing was that this 800 years of relative peace was made possible by the Muslim rulers. And it was the Catholic kings that ruined it all by implementing the horrible Inquisition. So Muslims were actually more tolerant back then the Christians were. Go figure.

So yeah...the Inquistion is gone. And in fact, in Dec. 2007, the first legal pagan wedding was held in Barcelona. How many states can I get legally married as a pagan in the "good, ol'" USA? Not many I bet.
But I don't see how bringing up a centuries old institution that's long gone is going to help you win this argument. And in fact, I don't see why you're still trying to insult Spain. It's not like I'm gonna move back to the USA. I've said already that BOTH the USA and Spain have their pros and cons but Spain is a better fit for me. So who exactly are you trying to convince here?

TPS's pride is born out of ignorance. America votes a second term for it's first black President. How is Spain doing on diversity? Or is that why you chose to live there because you hate anyone who is not like you? Birds of a feather flock together...

"The Spanish Inquisition was used for both political and religious reasons. Spain is a nation-state that was born out of religious struggle between numerous different belief systems including Catholicism, Islam, Protestantism and Judaism. Following the Crusades and the Reconquest of Spain by the Christian Spaniards the leaders of Spain needed a way to unify the country into a strong nation. Ferdinand and Isabella chose Catholicism to unite Spain and in 1478 asked permission of the pope to begin the Spanish Inquisition to purify the people of Spain. They began by driving out Jews, Protestants and other non-believers."

If anything maybe your USA should contribute a little more in ending the crisis it started. And thank those countries for providing employees for its companies. Because last I checked the companies and banks were getting bailed out. The "elderly" and "poor" you claim were getting oh so much help WEREN'T. So yeah...let's not get into that because the USA is the one that should do the contributing to end the problems its failed system starts. This isn't the first time the world economy was driven to crisis because of this. When will the world wake up?!

Yes. And as you said they ended up in the hand of "companies overseas." Namely AMERICAN companies overseas. And who controls companies? Oh yeah the CEOs. Did they provide jobs? Yes. But what happened to those comapnies when they went under? Oh yeah. LAY OFFS! So what part of that said "poor" and elderly," again? NONE! Don't put your words into the facts. The truth is that companies only look out for thier CEOs and their investors. Not their employess. And certianly not other citizens that don't work for a company (they need jobs too, don't you think?)

So yeah. Thanks so much USA for pretty much causing the world financial crisis! And you think communism and socialism are bound to fail? Capitalism is failure by definition.

"That money goes to support the poor and elderly." HAHAHAHA! Wow....I woud have never believed you were truly that naive. Really?! Yeah freaking right! That money goes to support the poor and elderly? Are you freaking KIDDING me right now? Riiigghht...that's why they're CUTTING those programs left and right. Becuase they cut programs that are supported by ridiculous outdated lending and borrowing tactics. Oh please...your conservative lies aren't working on me. How about you say where the money REALLY goes? To fund two dumbass wars one that JUST ended a year ago and one that hasn't. And most of it goes right back in the flawed capitalist game that started this mess...into more investing and into the pockets of more rich people. Don't give me that crap that it goes to the "poor" and elderly". If that was the case Welfare, Social Security, Medicare would all be getting FAR more than they actually do and the pockets of those fat cats in Wall Street would be far more empty than they are. Don't lie.

And I think you're forgetting (or maybe you're just ignorant) that Europe uses FAR less oil than the USA and it's far more expensive here too. Maybe your precious States should take a lesson and reduce their dependcy on it then like Europe and upgrade their buses and metros. Or maybe make their cars actually good and functional and not to keep up with the Jones'. Spain owes the USA nothing and if anything, the USA should be grateful that Spain even went into a war for the USA that it truly didn't want to get into. So how about you ask the USA to show a bit more appreciation to Spain for sticking its neck out when it had nothing to gain, hm?

PS. Yes. In fact, socialism works very well in Europe. Just like at the most northern (and most socialist) countries in Europe. But do you think piggish capitalism will support a functional middle class in a society? Because I see the middle class in your precious USA quickly diminishing. Let's see how long they last without one.

"Also, it doesn’t matter what percentage is owed to China and Japan. The point is: it’s a LOT. Probably FAR more than Spain owes Germany, THAT’S for sure so let’s not get into that, hm?" TPS

Oh but we will get into that. The money borrowed is used to support the elderly and poor in America under the entitlements program. But the money is also used as aid to other countries to support their needs as well. And let's not forget how the US military is used to protect the oil shipping routes so countries can safely receive their oil imports.
