Well, this afternoon, even though it is raining in Boston (yet again), I am a happy camper. After having tried every publishing management system out there for years (in fact, when I was working at larger publishing houses, we even did our own system from scratch), I have finally found a system that is everything I needed: online, simple, clear, yet powerful and—best one of all: no more 2-hour status meetings! Yes, no more 2-hour status meetings!
Based in Waltham, Appingo is a web-based publishing management system perfectly tailored for how we produce content at Publish. We needed a system that took advantage of our global resources, a place where we can create digital workflows that cover everything from scheduling, budgeting, assignments, file uploads, image management, invoicing, status updates, billing, issue resolution—you know, everything that makes content production so unique. Appingo has answered that for us.
Why? Two simple reasons:
1. Appingo allows you to develop the content the way you want it, with the tools you want, instead of having the system force you to invest in tools and applications that don’t benefit your workflow. For example, one of the drawbacks with more notable publishing systems is that everyone on the project needs to access the files the same way, and with corporate firewalls limiting this access, how does the freelancer in Colombia access those files, when she can’t access the system through the firewall? With Appingo, the web-based interface and ability to upload files, schedules, reports and then share them with your project team on the system makes it more efficient and dynamic for us. Appingo complements how we do work at Publish; it doesn’t dictate a new process I have to follow or else… That is what we want. Yes!
2. Appingo allows us to customize workflows and schedules that reflect how we deliver our projects. We have always called this “organizing chaos,” and we are thrilled to finally have a publishing system that supports how we develop projects for out clients. We understand that publishing project schedules and budgets are getting tighter and tighter, and at Publish, we are very familiar with doing “more with less.” Appingo helps us increase our project management scope, so that we become even more efficient in how we develop content.
So, if you have a chance, say hi to Appingo Sally on Twitter or on their main Appingo site. We think you will be pleasantly surprised.
Thanks Julio!
You ROCK. Appingo is a great system, and we are proud to be powering a visionary in this industry. Together, we can build agile, nimble companies that will power publishing into the new millennium.
