Canada gets a bum rap when it comes to its southern neighbors. (Yes, that would be we Americans.) Sure, we like to make fun of Canadians, but we never stop to appreciate what Canada has given us: Bob and Doug, Rush, Michael J. Fox, Michael Bublé, hockey, Molson, bacon for our Eggs Benedict, Montreal, Toronto, and so much more.
And you know what else Canada gives us? Some of the best, yes we truly mean, THE BEST, people on Twitter. Don’t know why, but there is something about Canadians and Twitter. They are cooler, more laid back, more savvy with social media, and (gasp) just unbelievably nice and supportive.
So today, our Follow Friday list is all about (and pronounce that with a Canadian “out” please) about the Great White North. Don’t be a hoser, eh, and just follow these amazing tweeps:
@unmarketing: If you are NOT following Scott Stratten, then you don’t know social media. Scott is one of the best Twitter minds out there, and guess why? Because he is himself, he is authentic, he does it right, and we love him for it. When Scott shows up in my stream, I smile.
@mdouble: I have known Marvin for about 10 months now (wow) and he is one of the kindest, most authentic souls I have met on Twitter. He has been a huge supporter of Fernando Varela just because he is a giver and wants to help. We truly appreciate what Marvin does. Follow him. Follow him now.
@1800GotJunk: don’t let the name fool you, Travis runs the social media for 1-800-GotJunk and he is awesome. I truly believe that this is one of the ONLY brands on Twitter that gets it. Why? Because Travis says what he says, he is true to himself, he helps his customers, he doesn’t blatantly push his brand, and yes, he is an awesome football (soccer) fan, even tough he roots for United and I root for Arsenal.
@martinwaxman: Martin is from Toronto. Martin is Canadian. Martin is proud to be a Canadian. Martin has already told me that I could become a Canadian if I needed to. But seriously, Martin knows his PR and he is a great connector on Twitter.
@ashleyjill: Hey, yes, Canada has women too (just realized my list is all guys), and Jill is so cool, a Canadian living in Boston. She loves her FNX and her Red Sox, and that is reason enough for us.
And we have a bonus follow today:
@knealemann: When Kneale made up my FAVORITE tweet of all time (about the Housemartins, one of the best bands ever), I was hooked. For those you know the Housemartins, here is what Kneale wrote in less than 140 characters: “Me and the farmer bow down during happy hour, think for a minute about people who grinned themselves to death.” That, to me, is Twitter poetry. Also, Kneale is a great guy and posts EXCELLENT content. He is a “Must Stream,” that is, someone who must be in your Twitter stream.
I also love the Canadians. I blogged about another one, @Robert_Saric, today. Plus @AJDonovan is one of my Twitter BFFs.
Nice. Wow, you are actual friends with Canadians? Shhh…
Great list… I am excited to see Martin Waxman in the Spring here in Asheville!
Nice, I think they allow Canadians in NC!
I’m Canadian, too 🙂 @loisatvistage Thanks for connecting me with some of my fellow natives.

Lois, I did not know you were Canadian. Even better. Thanks for posting.
