With an official Pima County video now made public, more details about the fatal shooting of US Marine José Guerena from the 60 bullets of a SWAT team are starting to emerging. Below are two videos from The Arizona Daily Star recorded last week depicting the battle of dueling lawyers.
This first video is of attorney Michael Storie, who represents the SWAT officers who were involved in the shooting of Guerena in his own Tucson home.
The second video is of attorney Christopher Scileppi, who is representing Guerena’s family.
The Sheriff’s office has already been caught in fabrications in two key facts of this case, making their credibility highly dubious.
First, it was reported that some SWAT team had seen muzzle flashes and claimed Jose Guerena fired first. This was later proved false.
Second, lawyer Michael Storie told the media the SWAT team members were interviewed separately following the incident. Again, a false claim. The tapes released today record a group debriefing in which several members of the team appear to contradict each other.
What else has been misrepresented? What else is being withheld?
This story will not wash, Mr Storie.
It is becoming to appear more and more as a botched operation with murder the result of bad judgement of poorly trained or rogue swat officers.
Looks like it,
This story is so full of holes it’s pathetic. What I find even more troubling is the fact that Storie is hell bent on making this war hero the bad guy….shame on Arizona !
Yeah, put the the blame on a Marine who fought in Iraq. Makes no sense.
Hey, Don’t blame Arizona. Read Huisler’s article about elections fraud in Pima County (PC). We don’t get to choose who our own leaders here. And guess which county put Janet Napolitano in the Governor’s seat.
Ok! But what does that story have to do with politics? This is about a SWAT team.
Even if Guerena is a hardened criminal, police were wrong. They acted unconstitutionally, recklessly and without regard to public safety. Facts? Hell, Storie is already attacking the widow and showing off the “Sheriff” markings on the SWAT vests – as if Guerena could ID vests through a door. No matter what, taxpayers will pay for the PCSO unlawfully breaking into a private home.
I am a vet have had police training. The difference? Police must be reactionary, not proactive; they must act under civilian laws and their mission is protection, not killing an enemy.
Watch the video. Only 30 seconds – siren to SWAT busting in. 5 more seconds, shots fired. Thirty five seconds from lawful order to deadly force? No way. It’s not a question of the shooting, it’s about breaking in and poor training. This is mostly about our rights as free citizens to be secure in our homes.
