So, we must be doing right about our distaste for the silly name of the Tequila Party, since it appears that Dee-Dee García Blasé —the founder of the 2,000-member Tequila Party and the self-proclaimed Voice of All Latinos— is starting to share her thoughts about this blog and our positions.
In a message we received today, Dee-Dee’s true colors show in her criticism of this blog and LatinoRebels.com. Here is what she wrote:
For the record, the owner of the Latino Rebels who is against the name of the Tequila Party is Puerto Rican (Julio) , and we all know PR’s get automatic citizenship. I don’t think that Latino Rebels really feel what people of Mexican descent are going through right now and we have to be creative and controversial in a good way to get people to think about the importance of the latino vote to promote for pro immigration politicians. It’s too bad Latino Rebels wasn’t more like Rep. Luis Gutierrez for Illinois. Julio (Latino Rebels) asked me why we didn’t name the movement “rum party”, and I think it has something to do with PR’s and Cubanos liking ‘rum’ more so than the ‘tequila’.
Ms. García Blasé’s comments about “PRs and Cubanos” expose her as clueless and arrogant. The Tequila Party is a pathetic attempt to create an astroturf movement to serve GOP purposes. Like Fox News Latino, the Tequila Party is a craven sideshow to woo Latino voters while the mainstream GOP continues a to pander to nativist sentiments.
Agreed. This needs to be exposed and stopped now.
I don’t get the connection between Luis Gutierrez, a pro-illegal immigration liberal, and the GOP. The way I read Garcia-Biase is that she wants more politicians like Gutierrez and that’s definitively doesn’t serve GOP purposes. Us, Latinos-Conservatives, do not advocate illegal immigration or increments in social programs; the two reasons why most Hispanics and Blacks vote Democrat. “Para vivir del mantengo”. So get your facts straight; the tequila party is promoting liberal ideas; they want open borders and welfare for all.
Thanks for the comments. BTW, deedee is the founder of Somos Republicans. Do your homework and read their platform. Sounds pretty conservative to us. Thanks again for your input.
I get you; but do you see the mix message? How would Gutierrez fit in a GOP agenda? That’s what I’m referring to. Maybe Dee Dee is not well defined herself; but a conservative, she’s not.
Ask her. Ha! It was weird.
Edwin, also thanks for the lessons in Latino conservatism.
Julito, here’s your answer:

We are very aware of the TP pieces but just because NPR does a piece on her means she is liberal. she isn’t. She is part of you guys! Good luck with that!
